This session — held at the East Lansing Marriott — is appropriate for all members who desire to improve their knowledge of proper debate and decorum as well as meeting organizational skills. There will be no fee for this session. Candidates for all offices will be invited to attend this event. Join your colleagues for networking and meet the candidates from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m., with light appetizers and a cash bar. The training session will take place from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Each component dental society is urged to have at least one or two representatives attend. If there are individuals in your component who may be interested in a leadership position either at the component or state level, please let them know about this session and encourage them to attend. This is a great opportunity for you to network and speak with individual Board members and staff to communicate your ideas and thoughts.
- Discover and utilize the basic parliamentary steps to process motions and provide for efficiency and clarity within a meeting.
- Identify and practice the process to amend a resolution or a motion presented to a group for consideration.
- Understand the various methods utilized to take a vote and when and how to utilize these principles to achieve an outcome that is transparent.
