This course meets Michigan’s ethics/jurisprudence requirement for license renewal. Delegation of duties and supervision obligations will be covered. Learn about the recent changes to the Michigan Administrative Code rules regarding which procedures may be delegated. In addition, participants will discover five key ethical principles, and why dental practitioners should abide by them.

Learning objectives:

  • The procedures that are legal to delegate to dental assistants and hygienists and what level of supervision is required.
  • How delegation and supervision is regulated by law and ethical code.
  • The grounds for discipline, the investigative process, and sanctions applicable to dentists and other health care providers licensed by the state of Michigan.
  • The five ethical principles covered by the ADA/MDA Code of Ethics: autonomy, beneficence, justice, veracity, and non-maleficence.
  • Enforcement of the ADA/MDA Code of Ethics and possible sanctions.
  • The importance of record keeping.

This course is designed for dentists, hygienists, and assistants.
